Lithium polymer batteries have a high energy density, are miniaturized, and are lightweight. They may be recharged several times as a type of storage battery, making them useful for all users. Lipo batteries are now widely employed in electrical and digital goods. However, many individuals neglect battery regular maintenance, resulting in a significant loss in service life. So, how can you extend the life of a lipo battery? Here are some items to consider.

Select the appropriate charger

It’s best to choose the special charger produced by the original battery factory to match the lipo. If batteries are charged with non-original chargers, the mismatched currents and voltages during charging will damage the circuit system, shorten the service life of the batteries, and even bring potential safety hazards like pack expansion. The original batteries and chargers are the best couple.

Charge and discharge appropriately to avoid damage

Over-charge and over-discharge may severely harm the batteries, therefore don't charge until the power is fully expended, and don't charge for an extended period of time (avoid charging all night). Keep it for 1-2 hours once the charger's green light has turned on.

Pay attention to the charging environment and minimize any potential safety issues.

Charging in wet rain and snow often results in a short circuit, whilst charging in the hot heat can quickly result in spontaneous combustion. Lipo batteries should be charged in a dry, ventilated, and cold area to guarantee safety.

Keep away from dangerous sources when storing

Lipo batteries should be kept dry and away from moisture throughout their daily storage. Also, keep them away from heat sources, burning combustibles, and explosives. Do not combine the batteries with other metal things to avoid metal objects hitting the positive and negative poles of the batteries, which can cause short circuits, damage, and potentially danger.

Recharge batteries that have been sitting inactive for an extended period of time.

When a battery has been sitting inactive for an extended period of time, charge it to avoid being in a power loss situation, which will significantly diminish Lipo's service life. Idle batteries should be charged every two weeks or so, and they should be kept in a semi-electric storage condition (about 40% 60%).

Reduce human harm

Do not knock, poke, trample, or otherwise damage the batteries. In everyday usage, freshly charged Lipo batteries should be set aside for half an hour and utilized only when the charging performance has stabilized; otherwise, the battery performance will suffer.

Clean the batteries on time to avoid hidden hazards.

Remove dust and grime from the battery covers on a regular basis to maintain them dry and clean and to protect the batteries from self-discharging. Remove the copper rust from the battery packs' charging and discharging ports, as well as the chargers' contact points, as soon as possible to avoid any safety issues caused by improper contact.
