High Voltage - Maximum Safety

The cell voltage of lithium primary cells, also known as lithium iron sulfide or lithium manganese dioxide batteries, is typically between 1.5 and 3 volts. The cell voltage of a lithium thionyl chloride battery, on the other hand, is substantially higher: 3.6 volts. The battery performs at the level of lithium ion batteries at this value. The battery maintains this voltage level practically throughout the discharge phase, which is a distinct selling advantage of lithium thionyl chloride cell chemistry.

Li/SOCl2 batteries outperform all other primary cells in terms of energy density. It is feasible to get values of up to 710 watt hours/kilogram.

Battery characteristics:

1) The battery's specific energy may reach 430Wh/kg (1000Wh/dm3), the greatest among all types of lithium batteries.

2) High open-circuit voltage, up to 3.6 volts (V) for a single cell; the operating voltage is high and changes with load, often ranging between 3.2 and 3.6 volts (V).

3) It has a low self-discharge rate and an annual self-discharge rate of less than 2%; it has a long storage life and may be stored at room temperature for 10-15 years.

4) The working temperature range is broad, with the typical operating temperature ranging from -55 °C to +85 °C.

5) The operating voltage is constant. On a high voltage platform with nearly constant voltage, more than 90% of the battery capacity is output.

6) In general, it can generate a medium current pulse for up to 8 years and can function continuously for a long time with a tiny current.

7) The battery contains a PTC protection plate, and the battery short circuit current drop is less than 600mA in 5s, and the voltage drop is less than 0.04V when the PTC passes 400mA.

Battery safety precautions include:

1) Short circuiting and charging are not permitted.

2) Users are not permitted to combine batteries on their own.

3) It is completely forbidden to overcharge, extrude, incinerate, or disassemble.

4) It is prohibited to use or heat outside of the permissible temperature range.

5) After reaching the termination voltage, the battery should be withdrawn from the instrument.

6) Do not weld directly on the battery's surface; instead, utilize the battery with a pre-installed guide lug or lead.

7) The spent battery must be disposed of in accordance with local environmental protection standards, such as burying it deep underground or placing it in deep water.
